Meet Sue

Fair values. Straight answers.

As Porter County Assessor, Sue makes sure every property is valued fairly and the same way as its neighbors. She has held Indiana’s highest assessor certification, Level III Assessor-Appraiser, since 2020.

An assessment shapes a family’s tax bill and a small business’s budget. That’s why Sue runs an open office that treats every taxpayer with respect.

Indiana’s tax rules change often, so her staff train every year at the state assessor conference.

“Fair values and honest answers. That’s my promise.” — Sue

Sue’s Priorities

Three commitments.

Experience

A Level III certified Assessor leading an office that keeps learning every year.

Fairness

Every property valued by the same standards, using real market data.

Community

Easy to reach, quick to explain and out in every corner of the county.

For Property Owners

Know how your assessment works.

What is an assessment?

The county’s estimate of your property’s market value, based on its features and recent nearby sales.

Who handles what?

The Assessor sets the value. The Auditor applies deductions. Local governments set budgets, the state certifies rates and the Treasurer collects.

Why did my bill change?

Deductions, budgets, rates and tax caps all play a part, so your bill and assessment don’t always move together.

Think your assessment is wrong?

  1. Review & askCheck your property record and contact the Assessor’s office. Most questions end here.
  2. File a local appealFile Form 130. Your appeal may go to the county board of appeals (PTABOA).
  3. Go to the stateDisagree with the PTABOA? Appeal to the Indiana Board of Tax Review on Form 131.

Disaster damage? File Form 137R for reassessment. Forms and deadlines: Indiana DLGF. General information, not legal advice.
